Risk Reduction - Fire & Life Safety Division:
The Risk Reduction Division offers rewarding careers for professionals passionate about public safety, community engagement, and operational excellence. Our team plays a key role in reducing community risk and building a safer, more resilient community.
The District’s Fire & Life Safety team employs Deputy Fire Marshals dedicated to protecting lives and property through fire prevention, investigations, code enforcement, plan reviews, and public education. As part of our Risk Reduction team, Deputy Fire Marshals partner with businesses, residents, and community stakeholders to enhance public safety. Fire District 3 supports professional growth through a tiered career path (Deputy Fire Marshal I, II, and III) that provides opportunities for advancement and increased responsibility.
The District’s Risk Reduction Supervisor leads seasonal fuels reduction crews that help residents clear vegetation and brush from their properties, supporting wildfire mitigation efforts and reducing fire risk around homes.
Response and Training Divisions
The Response Division is at the heart of Fire District 3’s mission to protect life and property through emergency services. Operating from eight fire stations, including four staffed 24/7 by career personnel, our first responders provide fire suppression, emergency medical care, technical rescue, and all-hazard response services with professionalism, reliability, and compassion.
Fire District 3 invests in its people through ongoing training, leadership development, and clear career advancement opportunities. Employees can progress from Firefighter to Engineer or Captain, and ultimately Battalion Chief, while gaining valuable experience through mentorship and participation in management-level projects and programs.

The Community Care team plays a key role in improving community health through patient education, preventative outreach, and connections to local healthcare resources. As part of the Response Division, Community Care Providers deliver compassionate care, support public education efforts, participate in community events, and assist with emergency response, helping create a healthier and safer community.
Facilities and Logistics:
The Facilities and Logistics Technicians provide essential operational support through logistics, fleet and facility maintenance, and data-driven resource planning. The team maintains the District’s eight fire stations, training facilities, administrative offices, fleet, and equipment. Through proactive asset management, collaboration, and innovation, Facilities and Logistics staff ensure the infrastructure, resources, and support needed to achieve operational excellence across the organization.
Administrative Support
The Administrative Assistant plays a vital role in supporting Fire District 3’s daily operations by providing exceptional customer service, coordinating projects and schedules, managing confidential information, and supporting staff across the organization. Organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable, Administrative Assistants help ensure the smooth delivery of services that support both emergency response personnel and the community.
The Finance Specialist is responsible for payroll, accounting, and financial record management, helping maintain the accuracy and integrity of the District’s financial operations. Detail-oriented and analytical, Finance Specialists play an important role in supporting employees and ensuring the responsible stewardship of public resources.
